La grana libera che si verrà a formare sulla superficie di gioco, dal momento in cui si inizierà a giocare, è proporzionale alla quantità di sottomanto usato. Sarà cura del manutentore asportarla di volta in volta fino a quando il campo garantirà una scivolata controllata. Non asportare tale grana significa convivere con un campo sabbioso e con confort di gioco ridotto al minimo.
